SMNuHoMICS at the JPND Symposium

It was a pleasure to present the progress of the SMNuHoMICS project at the NEURON & JPND – EU Joint Programme Neurodegenerative Disease Research / EP BrainHealth Midterm Symposium in Paris.

The international consortium focuses on the role of SMN in nucleolar homeostasis and nuclear recovery after stress, with potential implications for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) patients.

It was also a pleasure to see consortium results presented by Candice Benedetti, with her poster on SMN–FBL proxisome dynamics under genotoxic stress.

Many thanks to the organizers, the JPND and #BrainHealth communities, and to our partners in Belgium Denis Mottet, Maxime Uriarte and Léa Pautet, and Canada Jocelyn Côté and Olivier Binda.

Gratitude is also extended to the funding agencies supporting the experimental work: ANR (Agence nationale de la recherche), the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Brain Canada, and F.R.S.–FNRS.

Finally, acknowledgement goes to the Inserm International Research Program and Ambition Internationale from the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes for supporting exchanges, meetings, and collaborations within the consortium.
